I love this perspective. I started in tech in 2001/2002 and things were really good for years. Around 2008/09 things were not so good. I literally felt worthless because so many people had the same skills as me, and they were all looking for jobs. I could have given up, which was reasonable at the time.
My choice was to control what I was able to control. I could make myself better, even if nobody noticed. I could build my "edge" while others chose to give up or make excuses. It was all I could do. I worked tirelessly to build my skills.
It turned out well for me eventually, and it will for you too. Don't give up.
