Thanks for the great post! Can I ask why you suggest JPEG images?

In older versions of React Native, PNG downsampling was disabled since it was an experimental feature in Fresco. It looks like they have enabled it in the latest versions of React Native.

React Native Android depends on Fresco for loading and displaying images. Currently we have disabled downsampling because it is experimental, so you may run into memory issues when loading large PNG images.

Great reading your article. 1 question. I don't have any experiences on Swift/Object-C or Java. Have Javascript on my belt (mid-level). Would using React Native and 100% depend on Javascript good enough?

If native is a must, then why bother learning React Native? I could just focus picking & building it natively which is much faster and better quality?

i see :) but just curious, if I plan to build a marketplace apps which need to deal with many images (as product images).. will out of the box RN sufficient? I read about your article that listview may have some issues. A bit worried though...

If you are building a marketplace, You will load the content from the internet. It will take some time to fetch the content from the internet. So, You won't be able to find the delay. In my case, We were expecting to render 1000 to 3000 rows in few seconds. That's why we went with Native implementation. But, You can use SGListview for your use case which will not consume much RAM too. Check the existing React Native applications which are using ListView and SGListView before choosing between Native Vs RN.
