I'm a UK based software developer (my title is software engineer, but I'm still not sure what to think about that).
By day I am working on backend projects in C# and Python data projects using solutions like Databricks. but
By night (actually early mornings), I am generally working on personal projects with Go, JS, HTMX and whatever else I can get my hands on.
I tend to tinker around in my own time and move from one unfinished project to the next; anything from creating small tools, websites, or making games with the Godot engine.
Nothing here yet.
I don't think I have ever heard of a discussion on whether someone should use Java or JavaScript. JavaScript was originally written to work with Java when Java was a big player in the web world, but that is no longer the case and hasn't been for quite some time.
I generally think the Godot editor is fine, but it is missing some ease of life features that more fleshed out editors have. I don't often use VS Code but I may try and see if I can configure this with one of my JetBrains editors.
I really like Linux Mint. I tried it out for a while when my Windows laptop was always running slow. However, I was constantly having issues with connecting devices via Bluetooth and so switched to Ubuntu. I'm not really bothered about what distribution I have as long as it runs well. I would consider Mint again if I could be bothered to change 😂
