olajide joshua While changing platform/service is always an option. You could better still be a champion for the platform to actually support Web Monetization (user need and requests are normally given consideration by product teams). The likes of Akintunde Sultan can support you with that conversation with the folks behind the platform and/or service.
Building on Akintunde Sultan's answer specific on the engineering side do check these out, Ayodeji Oladimeji : Developer (Communities) CSS Tricks + freeCodeCamp + DEV + Android Police + Hacker Noon + Codepen + David Walsh + Conffab + Firefox Reality + Runnaroo + JS Bin Developer (Individuals) Sally Lait + Jeremy Keith + HJ Chen + Ian Forrester + Tomomi Imura + Bruce Lawson + Remy Sharp + Emma Goto + Tomasz Łakomy + Gift Egwuenu + Dave Rupert + Catalin Pit + Elijah Manor + ppk + Aaron Gustafson + Nenne Adaora Nwodo + Phil Nash + Kilian Valkhof + Andy Baio + Jeremiah Lee + Stuart Langridge + Daniel Aleksandersen + Uchi Uchibeke + Dmitri Pavlutin + Brian Kardell + Terence Eden . ps. if you were a Coil member you'd be giving back to each of these when visiting their content
Right now, Web Monetization works best with content on a URL. However, native apps is on the roadmap. Some partners like, Imgur Emerald and Cinnamon Beta are already working on their apps supporting Web Monetization with some specific engineering that we've supported. The goal going forward is to make this seamless and easy for any native app to incorporate over time.
Chris Bongers To be more correct, Hashnode/DEV/Hacker Noon etc implement and use Web Monetization, a proposed W3C standard. By doing so members of a Web Monetization provider, remunerate adopters of Web Monetization. Today there is a single provider available and that is Coil. Other providers are highly encouraged and can be stood up by using the foundations of Interledger (protocol) and Web Monetization (web standard). These new providers could adopt other business models (Coil itself is $5 per month). Programs like Grant for the Web will encourage and support where applicable grantees to create new providers. Others may be venture backed or otherwise. ps. thanks for being a Coil member and giving back to creators out there
It's likely not an and/or choice, Edidiong Asikpo . Web Monetization plays just as nicely alongside ads if need be. However, you may consider other factors: a better user experience for your audience a faster and more performant website leading to less calls to ad networks and more a more privacy centric approach without tracking codes and pixels. Beyond Coil Blogs itself a few other writing platforms are experimenting with Web Monetization, Chris Bongers . Check out: Hashnode itself Write.as Hacker Noon DEV.to There is also a Wordpress plugin for those using that service. Note: Right now only Coil Blogs and Wordpress (via the plugin) will allow you to create premium bonus 100+20 Content snippets. I would expect that others start adding this soon.
