Thanks for pointing out a few of the bad practices I have adopted. I have seen a few mistakes like not loading the whole HTML containing a doctype with <html> to the webview etc. I use Summernote WYSIWYG editor to generate the article_content . Could you please help with more ideas on how I can about this.

Is there a better Android WebView or option?
