Keeping the typed address for mail and using the normalised key only for matching is the detail that's easy to skip. The Workspace caveat is a good one too, since j.smith and jsmith can be two different colleagues there. How do you handle a real second person whose address collides with an existing key?
Yeah, sometimes. If one account is paying enough that killing the feature would lose them, I'll freeze it for that account only and hide it for everyone else. That only works when the feature is basically dead code with a flag, not when it's tangled through the whole product. If it's tangled, I'd rather talk to them about an export or a workaround and still remove it — one account owning the roadmap gets expensive fast.
Works fine in Supabase's SQL editor if you run it as a role that only has SELECT. Easiest path I've seen: create the read-only role in the SQL editor, grant it SELECT on the tables you need, then open a second connection (TablePlus or psql) as that role when you're poking around. You can also stay in the dashboard editor and just be careful not to run writes — but the separate role makes the "oops" harder.
