I’ve been noticing a pattern across fintech products.
Everyone says their system is AI-powered.
Fraud detection
Underwriting
Compliance
Recommendations
But when you break it down, most of these systems look like:
rules engine + model + human review
Nothing wrong with that.
The problem starts when the claim doesn’t match the system.
So I’m curious how people here think about this:
If someone asked you to prove your AI claim today, could you actually do it?
Like:
show which model is used
which version was active
what decisions came from AI vs rules vs humans
and reproduce outputs if needed
Because it feels like most teams are building features, not evidence.
And that gap is where things could get risky, especially in fintech.
I wrote a deeper breakdown on this here if anyone’s interested:

Would love to hear how others are handling this.
Are you thinking about “defensibility” at all when building AI features?
