I seriously hope Dreamweaver is dead! It has just been PIA throughout my professional career.
Long after I'd stopped using it for dev I used to use it to write blog posts, as it was a convenient rich text editor that spat out reasonable HTML for basic copy. I've switched to using wiki markup and an HTML exporter, though.
Wait, you mean developers did use it?
When I was new to Web development (mid to late 90s),I was immersed by HTML. It was awesome to see a browser transform my lines of code into (questionably) beautiful Web pages. I wouldn't dare using an editor for that.
However,i would lie if I'd say I never tried it. I did, and the code it generated was horrible. I never ever came back to it.
