Have you ever felt guilt of blocking ads thus blocking revenue for the publisher. I can see the Adblock penetration is increasing among people especially techie guys.
I don't mind ads per se. I hate when an add pops up over content I'm in the middle of reading. It's rude. When a site does that, I often nope outta there.
That said, aside from an ad-blocker, I also put common ad domains into my local DNS pointing to 127.0.0.1. This speeds up loading time for numerous sites, and results in a simple 404 not found error from my own server.
I don't mind ads but when it takes over the page and make the site unusable without further action I either have to leave the site or use an adblocker.

I hate sites with popups. I do disable ads on sites that don't have obtrusive ads like scotch, codrops etc
