I recently had to migrate data from one Google Workspace account to another (due to domain change and business restructuring), and I found a few ways to do it. Sharing my experience in case it helps others.
Using Google Takeout
Export data from the source account via Google Takeout
Download files and upload them to the destination account
Works for emails, Drive data, etc.
Downsides: No direct migration, takes a lot of time, not ideal for bulk users
Google Drive Sharing Method
Share files/folders with the new Workspace account
Make the new account the owner Transfer ownership manually
Issue: Doesn’t work smoothly for large data or multiple users
IMAP Migration (for Emails)
Use IMAP settings to move emails between accounts Can be configured via admin console Limited to emails only, no contacts, calendars, or Drive data
If you have multiple users or large data, a professional tool is a better option.
I used a Google Workspace to Google Workspace migration tool that helped me:
Transfer emails, contacts, calendars, and Drive data.
Maintain folder hierarchy and data integrity.
Perform bulk user migration.
Avoid manual errors and downtime
One such tool is the SysTools Google Workspace Migration Tool, which supports secure and bulk migration between domains.
Manual methods work if you have very limited data, but for business-level migration, using a dedicated tool saves a lot of time and effort. If anyone has tried other methods or tools, would love to hear your experience!
