What is NVM? Aptitude (apt) is so far I know the official way to do it? That being said, I'm more a Debian user than Ubuntu.

nvm = Node Version Manager. This way you can install multiple versions of Node and easily switch between them.
Ah yes that's true, I use it myself lol. Anyway. On a production server I only stick with 1 version of Node. On my Mac I think I have NVM
