I have started off from Java 15 years back. Still writing code in java and would continue to do so ... I do love typescript and Node though .. I like Python as well.

But why Java ?

My first language in anger would've been MatLab. Not by choice though. I did engineering at uni and so it was required of me to learn and understand it for assignments. Not touched it since though! lol.

I'm mainly frontend now - VueJS and I do some work in PHP too. However, that's not to say i havent done some decent projects in others such as python, golang, java/android to name a few.

I try. I quite enjoy creating technical documentation too, mainly because I learned how to be good at it haha. Yea, most of the stuff I tried was from my crypto trading days (1-2years ago now) when I was trying to build bots to trade using machine learning.

Since I learned programming at school, I did not really have a choice. I had to learn Delphi (Object-Pascal), JavaScript and PHP. I actually wanted to learn C++ and ASM, though.

If I had to choose a language today, I'd go for Rust (GameDev, backend, mobile, etc.), JavaScript and TypeScript (frontend, backend, PoCs and tools), and maybe ASM basics, since ASM is useful knowledge, even when you don't write actual programs in it - in order to understand how a program works on the lowest software level.

That's great Marco. I think I've started to see a pattern. Most developers don't have any control over their first language.
