Well, at least over here :)
Winter is the time of the year, when the days are short and it's cold outside. What better time could there be in order to sit down and work on some hobby projects or learn a new language/technique/framework?
What are you planning to do this Winter?
Getting started with HTML, CSS, JS, jQuery and ReactJS to create my own websites instead of using Wordpress. I already know some basics of HTML, CSS and JS. :)
Winter for me is all about escaping whenever possible, so besides from being in 35 celsius in Spain last week and going to USA on Monday I hope for a revisit to South East Asia while I do my more than full time job. I'm on a bigger project anyway so no new excitements there though.
Skylines has got some great updates recently if you like that kind of gaming :P
Currently I learn and play a little bit with writing my own blockchain in rust. Besides that I learn a little bit more rust and have a lot of fun.
This will be my project for the next weeks, until the end of the current semester comes and I have to learn for my exams.
For me, I really want to get my game rolling. Amethyst finally seems to settle down a bit in regards of the basic API and architecture, so I hope that I do not have to rewrite the core of my game too often anymore :D Other than that, it's a lot of implementation to do, though I think that I should end up with a test world before summer next year, which I can use to play around with game mechanics, like spells, hit zones, AI, etc.
In addition to that, I started writing some stuff in Rust, which is missing from the perspective of someone who has been using NodeJS for a very long time. Simple to use (arbitrary) data streams, to name just one example. So, I am implementing the things I am missing and I hope to port at least some parts of SHPS over to Rust, starting with v5.
On a more personal front, I really have to finish my homepage re-write (teaser). My current website is old, outdated, sloppy and has an invalid HTTPS cert (uugh). Well, the layout and UX is in place (cross-device), however I am missing some textures and content. I really hope to push out the new site before 2018 :/
As always, those plans don't sound like much, but since I don't have too much time, it already is a lot. Too much, probably :D We'll see, what I can do until spring!
Thanks for the advice. I might not need it. But there could be a 1% chance that I have to fix a code from a client who has used jQuery. ;D
I am planning to dive more into Typescript and MySQL. Also get familiar with AWS. And eventually rewrite and end my project:)
