Completely agree. Regulation itself isn’t the blocker. Badly designed regulation is. The real problem is when standards arrive after every company has already built its own fragile stack. Then integration becomes cleanup work instead of infrastructure planning. For AI agents, I think the same thing will happen. The winners won’t be the teams building every agent from scratch. They’ll be the ones building on standard rails with clear security, identity, logging, and compliance layers.
This is a strong breakdown, and I agree with the core point. AI native is not just “add an AI layer on top.” If the data is siloed, APIs are weak, and workflows still depend on manual legacy processes, AI will only give recommendations without real execution power. Modernization and AI adoption can’t be treated as separate tracks anymore. They’re becoming the same conversation.
